Over the weekend the Bear family household was broken into by a teenager apparently seeking food and shelter.
The only possessions that were affected in the house were the child’s chair, which was broken, and the child’s porridge, which had been eaten. The suspect, a teenage girl described as having golden hair and being on the younger side, apparently slept in all of the beds the family owns and was originally found by the father in the child’s bed.
The family confronted the stranger, but no one was hurt in the confrontation. The suspect escaped into the woods, where police say she’s still at large.
Mrs. Bear has said that the family has “...owned the house for generations” and that they “...never had any trouble of this sort before.”
While this was the first time this sort of thing has happened to the Bear family, it’s not uncommon in the area. The poverty and homelessness rates amongst 13-21 year olds in the area is 21 times the national average, mostly in part due to the lack of quality education or recreational activities available to children.
Last weekend, the house of the Bear family was broken into by a young woman who goes by the alias of Goldilocks.
The young woman ate the family’s porridge and broke one of their chairs. The Bears say they left their household to go for a walk while their porridge cooled and found the young girl asleep in the youngest Bear’s bed. After confronting her, Papa Bear says that Goldilocks screamed “Help!” and ran out of the house. Goldilocks is in now in custody– police found her walking through the forest, trying to disguise herself in a red hood. Goldilocks’ motives behind these actions are unclear at this time. All three of the Bears say they were shaken up, but no one was harmed; they have been staying at a local hotel while this investigation unfolds.
Goldilocks refused to provide any comment beyond, “It was just right.”
This is an alarming event to say the least. The Bears made the mistake of leaving their front door open, but, according to Mama Bear, they “... live in a very secluded cabin in the middle of the forest, and had no reason to suspect anything like this would occur.” Papa Bear stated that they will be looking into alarm systems in the near future to ensure nothing of this sort happens again, especially with their young child.
It was heartbreaking to talk to the youngest of the family, Baby Bear, who was clearly affected the most by the breaking and entering. Evidence at the crime scene showed it was his porridge that was eaten and his chair that was broken. Goldilocks was also found asleep in his bed.
His parents told us Baby Bear has been having difficulty falling asleep now– he sees Goldilocks’ face whenever he closes his eyes. Let us pray for Baby Bear.
